Eugenics a la Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is what you have always supported, James. What you deem "progressive" is fascist. Biopolitics, in your view, is dictated by labs that are funded for and by private equity. There is no freedom ahead for everyday people, because everyday people have no political agency. The freedom ahead is and now is for the Musks, the technofascists.
As Andreeson puts it in his biopolitical manifesto "We believe that since human wants and needs are infinite, economic demand is infinite, and job growth can continue forever."
Stand by this belief, but good luck finding clean water, avoiding bird flu and ridding your brain of microplastics, etc.—all caused by what Andreessen describes as "the techno-capital machine of markets and innovation never ends, but instead spirals continuously upward."
What goes up must come LOL
